I'm Sariyanta. I live in the Netherlands, where I build websites and web applications.

I write Typescript, PHP (WordPress), Hubl (HubSpot CMS) and React (HubSpot CRM UI Extension).

I was born and raised in Bali, Indonesia. For as long as I can remember, I always liked building things. My very first job was in construction.

My interest in building for the web started when I took an English for Education in college; I wanted to share what I learned in college on blogs. First through Blogger and WordPress.com. From there I moved to WordPress.org. Now, I still work with WordPress, but in a completely different level and setting.

In September 2019, my wife and I migrated to the Netherlands. We have been living here since. I have only began being a contributing member of societies in August 2020, almost a year after we moved.

Despite being a trained ESL teacher in Indonesia, I couldn’t crack it as an English teacher here. That’s why, my very first job here was a garbage man. In addition to the monetary gain, my Dutch improved significantly being around colleagues who mostly speak Dutch to me. While I don’t mind working as a garbage man, I’m glad I had to stop when corona hit. It gave me time to think about what I want to do, what I can do, and what is possible in the job market at the time. Dare I say, thanks to covid 19, now I’m doing something that I really like.

It has been a while since I work as a web developer. During my carrier, I learned a ton of stuff both in web development and the general work culture in the Netherlands. I want to document this stuff. I wish I had done this since the beginning, but you know what they say, the second best time to plant a tree is now. So, this is my tree.

The purpose of this blog is not to teach anybody anything. It mainly is here to document my learning for my self. If anyone other than me benefits from it, that’s a bonus.
